As a big Patriots fan*, my response to most criticisms to their dynasty is -
"HATERS ALWAYS HATE".
Any Pinterest board can tell you that haters is an acronym for:
H-aving
A-nger
T-owards
E-veryone
R-eaching
S-uccess
* (I will admit, us Boston fans are hypocrites - Sox Fans hated Derek Jeter then - just as much as we love Tom Brady now - for basically the same reason).
How do you defeat #resentment?
You guessed it, #respect.
Ever made fun of the Kardashians? Think they're a joke?
I did until Kylie Jenner became the youngest self-made billionaire at 21 years old. To put that in perspective, it took L'Oreal/Lancome 80 years to hit a billion - she did it in 3 - basically selling lipstick. Who's a joke now?
As a hotelier, I used to doubt, deny and downright lobby to make AirBnB illegal for years...that is until AirBnB (circa 2008) was valuated at over $31 billion by their 10th birthday. Want more perspective? Thats more than Hilton (est. 1919) and Hyatt (est. 1957) combined! In other words, the 9 years of a start up (that I used to hate) is worth more than the 162 combined years of success between two global brands.
I too was a hater, then I converted.
Think they knew this all along?
Back then, AirBnB (and Uber) posted this mantra in their office:
"First they will ignore you,
Then they laugh at you,
Then they fight you,
Then you win."
